Well what can we say? No learning and development programme is complete without Coaching and Mentoring. Why do I say that? ...because most training by itself, is a waste of time and money!
A controversial statement, I know. However, when we go on a training course, we might have had a jolly nice day, but we will forget what we have learned unless we immediately start to apply it, practice it or even teach it.
If we haven’t grasped the relevance to us, it won’t even stay in our memory longer than a few days (perhaps generous). Or we might have grasped the relevance, but the first hurdle we come to back in the office might mean that we put the learning on the ‘too difficult to do’ pile and we’ll continue with our previous thinking and behaviour. What a waste?
